Hung Gar is without a doubt one of the most popular and respected system of Chinese Martial arts to emerge out of southern China. Masters of this truly great art were some of the most well known and esteemed martial artist of their time. They were famous for their extraordinary skills in gung fu and traditional Chinese medicine as well as for their moral values.
Hung Gar is suitable for all, regardless of ones race, religion, age, sex or physical ability. Anyone wishing to learn can enjoy the great benefits of this outstanding system of Kung Fu. The system doesn't just offer excellent martial, medical and health benefits but trains ones body, mind and spirit. The effectiveness of this system has stood the test of time. For centuries, it has been tried and tested , time and time again. It has developed, nourished, and flourished to be one of the most respected and widely practiced style of Chinese Martial arts in the world.
Hung Kuen practiced within the Lam Family incorporates both external and internal methods. Although Hung Gar is classified as a hard- external style by most, Hung Gar kung fu puts as much emphasis on internal energy training as any known internal style of Chinese martial arts. One of the most versatile and unique systems of Chinese martial art, traditional Hung Kuen encompasses the principles, philosophy and techniques of the five animals, five elements, 12 bridges, internal energy training, unique use of sounds and much more.
Lam Family Hung Kuen consists of variety of different Empty Hand, Weapons and Two Man Sparing sets/Forms.Each form/set teaches different key principles and skills, trains the student physically, mentally and spiritually. Every move in these cleverly devised sets/forms serves a purpose and has a meaning. More one practice and deeper one looks, more one unfolds and understand.
At the UK Lam Family Kung Fu School we teach the complete traditional system of Hung Gar kung fu that has been passed down in Lam Family for the last three generations.
